Pressed in Clay
A five-second animated brand intro that builds a studio's mark out of clay and lands on the exact logo with a sonic chime.
A logo sting is a three-to-six-second reveal that opens or closes a video, an ad or a channel. It works best when the motion says something about the brand and then gets out of the way, ending on the real logo long enough to read, often with a short sonic logo. Here Thumbprint Studio, an invented claymation studio, gets a stop-motion sting: a lump of clay squashes flat, a cream coil curls into a thumbprint, and the finished mark lands next to the wordmark with a chime.
To make your own, bring your logo or ask Wavemaker to design one, and describe the material or motion that fits your brand. Wavemaker makes and reviews a first keyframe and a last keyframe, then animates between them. It lays your exact logo file over the final frames so the lettering is never redrawn by the model, and checks that the logo still reads at small sizes. The sonic logo is generated separately and checked by listening. The download includes the logo on transparent and white backgrounds, the small-size check, the keyframes and the sonic logo as WAV.
How this example was made
- Made the first and last frames A lump of clay, and the finished mark beside the wordmark.
- Animated between them One take with clay foley.
- Placed the exact logo The real logo file covers the final two seconds, so its letters are never redrawn.
- Added the chime A short sonic logo, checked by listening.
Real and generated. Real: the final logo file. Generated: the clay motion, foley and chime. The studio is invented.
